Les États-Unis ont désigné un nouvel envoyé spécial en Haïti, il s’agit de l’ambassadeur Daniel Foote, a-t-on appris ce jeudi 22 juillet 2021. L’ambassadeur doit rentrer en Haïti pour créer un canal de discussions entre les haïtiens et les partenaires internationaux.
“Nous avons le plaisir d’annoncer que l’ambassadeur Daniel Foote, membre de carrière du Senior Foreign Service, sera l’envoyé spécial pour Haïti. Il dirigera, avec l’ambassadeur des États-Unis, nos efforts pour soutenir le peuple haïtien à la suite de l’assassinat de Jovenel Moïse”, a tweeté ce jeudi matin le secrétaire d’État américain.
» L’envoyé spécial s’engagera avec des partenaires haïtiens et internationaux pour faciliter la paix et la stabilité à long terme et soutenir les efforts visant à organiser des élections présidentielles et législatives libres et équitables », a déclaré le département d’État, sans toutefois avancer une date exacte pour la tenue de ces joutes
